Kim Barker established Detour Design eleven years ago when returning to Tasmania after living and working interstate and overseas for over a decade. Presently Kim predominantly focuses on Interior Design work in the commercial domain. Recent projects include work in childcare, aged care, commercial offices, retail, cafes and bars. Since the beginning of Detour, Kim has seen the business continue to evolve and grow as do the individuals in the business, Kim would like to see Detour continue to evolve to take more seriously principles of environmental sustainability into our building projects. Kim believes that when measuring Detour’s success, the contentment of clients is one of the greatest indicators. Not only does Detour produce excellent design, the success of Detour can be attributed to the friendly and approachable attitude of the people who work there. |

Stephanie Murfet has a degree in environmental design, a bachelor degree in Architecture and a diploma in the Business and Practice of Architecture through the RAIA and Deakin University. Stephanie is a registered Architect with the RAIA Tasmania. Stephanie strongly believes that architecture needs to be more accessible and building more attuned to their occupants and the environment. “What is often forgotten is that we are providing a service to clients as well as producing good design.” Born in Australia and having lived for a year in Hong Kong, Stephanie has also travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North America. After working for a larger architectural office, Stephanie has now found her niche at Detour Design contributing to the complete inside/out building and design package philosophy.
